It’s a perfect match: we are close in age, both have high standards, love timber frames, and are rooted in New England but willing to travel.
Hardwick Post & Beam is proud to announce our new partnership with the McKernon Group in Brandon, Vermont, an environmentally responsible design/build company. Founded in 1987, McKernon has experience with a wide variety of construction styles. Our companies will collaborate on the design and construction of both residential and commercial projects throughout Vermont and the Adirondacks. McKernon’s role will involve site work, foundation, and completion of the project.
While we will continue to work with other builders and architects, in this geographic area we are pleased to have an enhanced relationship with the McKernon Group. They have received numerous awards in the areas of energy efficiency, luxury homes, and houses less than 2,000 square feet.
And the admiration is mutual. From McKernon: “We understand the complexity of the timber frame and appreciate the beauty of the design, new or old…Hardwick Post & Beam’s craftsmanship and joinery utilizing a variety of wood species are evidence of their close attention to detail.”
McKernon renovated the red barn at the top of the page for their headquarters. The yellow residence pictured below was a renovation of a 1908 farmhouse.
The new Adirondack camp with Scandinavian roof detail was a McKernon collaboration with architect Nils Luderowski. The other small photos show examples of McKernon workmanship on interiors.
